Xiaomi Strengthens Its Smart Home Vision in India
Xiaomi’s latest announcement signals a new chapter in its Indian journey, with the company looking to establish a stronger presence in the home and lifestyle segment. Through Mijia, Xiaomi aims to bring its connected home products under a unified global brand, with plans to expand into additional lifestyle categories and large household appliances.
Mijia, which essentially translates to “Mi Home”, will serve as Xiaomi India’s official home and lifestyle sub-brand. Going forward, home and lifestyle products from the company are expected to carry the Mijia by Xiaomi branding. The new brand will join Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco as the fourth brand in the company’s Indian portfolio.
Over the years, Xiaomi has established a significant presence in India through smartphones, smart TVs, tablets and AIoT devices. With Mijia, the company intends to build on this foundation, encouraging consumers to explore a growing range of connected home products while steadily expanding into new product categories and subcategories.
The announcement also offers a glimpse into Xiaomi’s next phase of growth in India, where smart living products are expected to play an increasingly important role in the company’s long-term business strategy.
Xiaomi Prepares to Enter the Large Home Appliances Market
One of the most significant aspects of the announcement is Xiaomi’s confirmation of its plans to enter India’s large home appliances segment under the Mijia brand.
Although the company has yet to disclose which appliances will be launched first or when they will arrive, it has indicated that future home and lifestyle products, including large appliances, will be introduced under the Mijia by Xiaomi branding.
Alongside entering new categories, Xiaomi also plans to strengthen its existing home product portfolio, including air purifiers, while introducing more products from its global smart home ecosystem to Indian consumers.
Globally, Mijia has an extensive presence across more than 200 product categories. Its portfolio includes robot vacuum cleaners, smart air purifiers, electric toothbrushes, weighing scales, smart kitchen appliances and several other connected devices designed to work together within an integrated ecosystem.
Advancing the Human × Car × Home Strategy
Mijia’s introduction in India aligns with Xiaomi’s global Human × Car × Home strategy, unveiled in 2023. The strategy aims to connect smartphones, smart home devices and electric vehicles through Xiaomi HyperOS, enabling users to manage compatible devices and experiences through an integrated platform.
According to Xiaomi, the company has already established the Human dimension of this strategy in India through its smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and AIoT products. The next phase will focus on strengthening the Home dimension by introducing more connected appliances and smart living solutions.
Commenting on the announcement, Sudhin Mathur, Chief Operating Officer, Xiaomi India, said:
“Over the past 12 years, Xiaomi has continuously evolved alongside Indian consumers, expanding from smartphones into a broader consumer technology portfolio. The introduction of Mijia by Xiaomi marks an important milestone in strengthening the Home dimension of our global Human Car Home strategy in India and reflects our long-term commitment to the market. As we deepen our presence in the category, our focus is on making connected ecosystem more intelligent, intuitive and seamless, bringing Xiaomi’s global smart living experience to more homes across India.”
With Mijia, Xiaomi is positioning itself for a broader role in India’s consumer technology landscape. While the launch timeline for large household appliances remains undisclosed, the move signals the company’s intention to bring its global smart home ecosystem to a wider audience and make connected living an increasingly integral part of its Indian business.

According to Redmi, the high refresh rate works with over 40 games. The phone also features a dedicated D2 display chip to take care of additional gaming-related tasks.
Battery is the highlight of the phone, as it’s set to carry a massive 10,000mAh cell. At this point, the standard model crosses even the top-of-the-line variants – the Redmi K100 Pro and Pro Max — both pack 8,580mAh and 9,070mAh batteries.
